Visit Buda Castle

In this scenario, you will be buying a ticket for a tour of Buda Castle, in Hungary. It is one of Europe’s most visited attractions, with nearly 1 million visitors each year.

When attempting to buy the ticket, you will be offered different rates depending on your age. This pilot will demonstrate how the European Digital Identity Wallet helps to simplify this process by automatically applying the student discount.

This pilot is designed to test the ability of EU Digital Identity Wallets to work with other venue systems to:

  • Verify ages using Person Identification Data (PID) or a similar standalone age verification credential.
  • Issue event tickets to the EU Digital Identity Wallets.
  • Verify tickets and age eligibility at venues using QR or NFC.

What you need to do

  1. Ticket Purchase: There are three different ticket types (Senior, Youth, Full) in the Buda Castle Ticketing App. Select ‘Youth’ as you (Hanna) are a student.
  2. Age Verification: The app requests age confirmation via the EU Digital Identity Wallet. Scan the QR code on the page to share the PID or Age Verification Credential.
  3. Ticket Issuance: A ticket is generated and stored in the EU Digital Identity Wallet upon successful age verification.
  4. Entry Validation: If you were to then travel to Buda Castle, you would be able to present the ticket via QR code or NFC, and the system verifies both ticket validity and age compliance.

We will be testing step 1 and 2 of this process.
