Set to launch in 2026, the EU Digital Identity Wallet will transform how European citizens manage their digital identity and personal data.

It will provide a safe, reliable and private means of digital identification across the European Union. Opening a new bank account, enrolling in university abroad, proving your age, or authenticating a payment will become as easy as it is secure.

You now have the unique opportunity to be at the forefront of digital payment innovation by participating in the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDIW) pilot program.

This initiative, in collaboration with the University of the Aegean, Banca Transilvania, Cyclades Fast Ferries, iGrant.io and Visa is your opportunity to contribute to shaping the future of digital transactions across Europe.

Who can participate?

We are looking for:

Romanian Citizens
Participants with both possessing a valid Romanian ID card and having already issued a Romanian Passport
Ideally, we would like you to bank with Banca Transilvania (BTRL) and have a BTRL Visa card, but you will have the option to sign up online if you are not yet a customer.

Online Course: The University of the Aegean will provide assistance and organize online coaching events and a short (online) course on the subject of EU Digital Identity Wallet and its use in the Transportation sector to ensure a smooth experience.
Certificate: Participants in the pilot and attendants of the course will receive a certificate from the University of the Aegean.

What do I need to do?

Use the EUDI Wallet to make a ticket payment from Cyclades Fast Ferries while showing an discount ID (proving short term affiliation with the Univ. of the Aegean or a Fast Ferries Loyalty Card)
Make the payment using a Visa card from Banca Transilvania (BTRL) and authorize it securely with the EUDI Wallet.

Should I pay for this ticket myself?

While the payment made will be real, and so will the ferry ticket issued (approx. cost around to 20 euros), you will receive immediate full refund by Cyclades Fast Ferries (plus the gifts mentioned above)
